Expert Running Gait Analysis in South Windsor, CT
You don't have to stop running — you have to run better. At The Athlete's Physical Therapist & Performance, our Doctors of Physical Therapy use in-depth running gait analysis paired with strength-based rehab to find the root cause of your pain, fix your mechanics, and keep you training. Not your typical doctor's office — coaches with doctorates.

Still Running Through Pain — Or Not Running at All?
Most runners never find out why they're hurting. They get told to rest, handed a generic exercise sheet, and sent home — only to end up right back where they started.
- Cookie-Cutter Care That Doesn't Stick
In-network PT clinics see you for 20 minutes, share your therapist with three other patients, and hand you the same theraband routine everyone else gets. Your mechanics are never actually assessed — and neither is your training load.
- Rest Doesn't Fix What's Broken
Being told to “take six weeks off” treats the symptom, not the source. Without a root-cause diagnosis and a real return-to-running plan, the pain comes back the moment you lace up again.
- You're Losing More Than Miles
Injuries don't just sideline your training — they chip away at your identity. Every week off the road is a race missed, a goal delayed, and a piece of who you are put on hold. You deserve better than guessing.

“I had hamstring tendinopathy that 2 other PTs through my insurance could not help me make any progress with. Within 2 sessions with Elyse I was making progress. Very attentive, very knowledgeable but most importantly — willing to push you. If you miss lifting, running, playing sports the way you used to — COME SEE THESE GIRLS, THEY WILL GET YOU RIGHT. WORTH EVERY PENNY.”

“My husband and I are both working with Elise as we train for our first marathon. She is incredibly knowledgeable, takes the time to listen to our concerns, and focuses on the whole athlete (sleep, training plans, nutrition, recovery, etc.). I'm 2 weeks in, and the aches and pains I had while running have already disappeared thanks to Elise's guidance on running mechanics and the Home Exercise Program she put in place for me. The 1:1 attention you get at The Athlete's PT is unmatched.”
“I came in dealing with ongoing issues in my hip, back, and shoulders for years of untreated injuries. They don't just go through the motions, they actually take the time to understand what's causing the problem and tailor a plan specifically for you. After 4 short weeks I'm feeling stronger and back into the gym full time.”
“From the very start, my PT provider, Elise, made me feel truly seen and heard. She acknowledged all my concerns and focus areas, which was such a contrast to my experiences at two other PT spaces that didn't feel as intentional. Elise guided me through each problem area with incredible knowledge of the body and mechanics, creating a personalized home exercise program that I can continue on my own.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your first visit to The Athlete's PT in South Windsor.
- Do you accept insurance?
- We are a cash-based, out-of-network practice — which means your plan of care is never dictated by an insurance company. We provide superbills after each session so you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement directly with your insurer. Most clients find they need significantly fewer total visits than at in-network clinics, making the investment comparable or less overall.
- How is your running gait analysis different from what other clinics offer?
- Our running gait analysis in South Windsor, CT is performed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy who is also a certified running coach — not a general practitioner or a tech assistant. Your analysis includes a full functional movement screen and is directly connected to a treatment and strength training plan, so the findings immediately drive your recovery and performance programming.
- What should I expect at my first appointment?
- Your first session is a comprehensive assessment — your DPT will review your full history, assess your movement quality, and conduct your running gait analysis or injury evaluation. You'll leave your first visit understanding exactly what's causing your pain and with a clear, personalized roadmap for your recovery.
- How many sessions will I need?
- Because every session is a full 60-minute, 1-on-1 appointment, most clients require half or fewer visits compared to traditional in-network clinics. Your DPT will give you a realistic timeline and session estimate during your first appointment based on your specific condition and goals.
- Can I keep training while I'm in PT?
- Yes — that's the whole point. We treat athletes who want to stay in the game, not sit on the sidelines. Your program is built around your sport and training schedule, and we use progressive overload strength work, dry needling, and manual therapy to keep you moving while you recover.
- What are your hours and how do I get started?
- We're open Monday through Friday, 7 AM–6 PM. The easiest way to get started is a free discovery call — a no-obligation phone consultation where you share what's going on and we match you with the right provider for your sport and needs. Book online at theathletespt.com or call (860) 785-8125.
